How to play Octordle

Eight five-letter words, thirteen guesses. Every guess is played against all eight boards at once, so a single word can tell you something about every puzzle on screen.

• Green — right letter, right place.
• Yellow — the letter is in the word, but somewhere else.
• Grey — the letter is not in that word.
• Every round is a fresh set of eight words. Hit New game at any point — or just reload the page — to deal another one.

Strategy

• Thirteen guesses for eight words is tighter than it looks. Spend the first three purely on covering the alphabet.
• Resist finishing a board the moment you can see it — a guess that only serves one board is a guess the other seven did not get.
• Once four or five are solved, switch to closing them out one at a time before the guesses run out.
