1. Introduction

Satordle ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect information when you use our website at www.satordle.com and the games available on it (together, the "Service").

By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Game data stored on your device: the words you have found in the current puzzle, how many hints and helpers you have used, whether you have seen the tutorial, and your preferences such as whether sound is muted. This is held in your browser's local storage, not on our servers.
• Technical information: information about your device and how you reach the Service, including IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, referring URL, the pages you request and the time of each request.
• Cookies and similar technologies: small files and identifiers used to keep the Service working securely and, where enabled, to measure usage and deliver advertising. See sections 4 and 5.
• Information you send us: if you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in your message.

We do not require an account to play, and we do not ask for your name, postal address or payment details.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the Service, and to save and restore your puzzle progress on your device.
• To maintain, secure and improve the Service, and to diagnose faults.
• To understand how the Service is used so we can make better puzzles and pages.
• To display advertising that helps keep the Service free to play, where enabled.
• To respond to messages you send us.
• To detect and prevent abuse, and to comply with legal obligations or protect our legal rights.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We set a session cookie that is necessary for the Service to function securely — it ties a page request to your visit and protects against cross-site request forgery. Strictly necessary cookies of this kind cannot be turned off without breaking the site.

Separately, we use your browser's local storage to remember your puzzle progress and settings, as described in section 2. This information stays on your device. Clearing your browser's site data erases all of it, and your next puzzle will start fresh.

You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may stop parts of the Service from working.

5. Analytics and Advertising

Please note: the services described in this section are not yet active on www.satordle.com. This section sets out what will be collected once we enable them, so that you know in advance. We will update the date at the top of this page when they go live.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Service — for example which games are played, which pages are visited and how people arrive. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your IP address, device and browser details, and the pages you view. This information is used in aggregate to improve the Service; we do not use it to identify you personally.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertising, which is what keeps the games free to play. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure how ads perform.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to the Service and other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
• You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.com.

Google's own handling of data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. We do not control, and are not responsible for, Google's data practices.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these situations:

• Service providers: third parties who operate the Service on our behalf, such as hosting providers, analytics providers and advertising partners, in each case only as needed to perform their function.
• Legal compliance: where we are required to do so by law, or to enforce our Terms of Use or protect our rights.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information from unauthorised access, disclosure or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal obligations.
• Object to or restrict certain processing, including personalised advertising.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

9. Third-Party Websites

The Service may contain links to websites we do not operate, including advertisers' sites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those websites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing them with any information.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete it.

11. International Visitors

The Service is operated from, and its data processed on, servers that may be located outside your country of residence. By using the Service you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in the law — including when we introduce new analytics or advertising services. Material changes will be posted on this page, and the date at the top always shows when it last changed.
